5 Lesser-Known Facts on How Balram Could Ended the Mahabharata in a Minute

Karna always called himself a son of a charioteer because his mother had abandoned him in his childhood and Radha's mother had raised him, so he was called Radheya. Duryodhana had learned the art of Gada from Balram. Subhadra and Duryodhana loved each other very much. Lord Krishna was the greatest hand in bringing Mahabharata to war and winning the war. Hello, Namaskar to everyone. My name is Laksh Maheshwari and I tell stories professionally.  If we see and think, we are all made from stories. All the stories we have heard since childhood, we are the amalgamation of all those stories. If none of those stories had been told, then you would not be who you are today. Stories are very important here. One such story that I have been called here to talk about today is a story in which all the possible emotions in human life can be seen in that story. I am talking about Mahabharata. Mahabharata. Lord Krishna was the greatest hand in bringing Mahabharata to war and winning the war. But it is said that Lord Krishna did not fight the war, but he had won the war before the war. Lord Krishna had made it a fact that the Pandavas would be the winners. I would like to give a small example. We all know about Karna. Karna was a great warrior. Karna was such a great warrior that he could finish all the Pandavas and the entire Pandava army. He had so much strength, so much skill. Lord Krishna also knew this. Karna always called himself the son of a charioteer, because his mother had abandoned him in his childhood. And Radha's mother had raised him, that is why he was called Radheya. Karna did not know anything about his mother who had given birth to him. So here comes the story of Lord Krishna. A few days before the war, Lord Krishna took Karna to a quiet place and asked him, Do you know anything about your birth, Karna? Karna said, I have no interest in knowing anything about it. I am happy that I am the son of Radheya. But Lord Krishna did not agree. Lord Krishna told him that he was actually the son of Kunti. Actually, the mother of the Pandavas, Kunti, had given birth to Karna. And because of the society, because he was not yet married, he had to leave Karna. When Karna came to know about this, he started crying. First, he said to Krishna, see Madhav, how unfortunate I am. I am the son of Kunti, the son of Surya. Still, I am known as Radheya. I am the sixth Pandava out of the five Pandavas. Yudhishthir, Bheem, Arjun, Nakul, Sahadev are my younger brothers. Despite that, I am known as Radheya. Then he started getting angry at Krishna. He said to him, wow Madhav, you started the war without playing the war. You won the war standing here. You told me that the Pandavas are my brothers. So how will I shoot them now? Now how will I shoot Arjun with the hope that I will kill him? How can I kill my younger brothers? Crying Karna went back. And that is why Karna never tried to kill any of the five Pandavas in the war. So Lord Krishna had won the war against the Pandavas before the war began. Just by saying this. As I told you, only the winners write the future. History is written by winners. The one who won said that he was right. The Pandavas were right and the Kauravas were wrong. Duryodhana, Dushasan and brothers died because they were wrong. You will feel good to know that his name was not Duryodhana or Dushasan. These names do not sound very negative. Why would anyone name their children Duryodhana or Dushasan? When history was written, their names were changed. Actually, their names were Suyodhana and Sushasan. But these names do not sound evil or negative. That is why their names were changed to Duryodhana and Dushasan. History is written by winners. Krishna's elder brother, Balram, whom he used to call his elder brother, is actually believed to be the incarnation of Sheshnag. He is believed to be the incarnation of Sheshnag who is seated on Vishnu. Balram was far superior to Krishna and Duryodhana in strength. But do you know why Balram did not participate in the Mahabharata war? Because Duryodhana had learned Gada Vidhya from Balram. Balram was faced with the question that if he participates in the war, who will he take it from? From the Kauravas, where Duryodhana, Dushasan and all are his disciples? Or from the Pandavas, where his younger brother, Krishna, is standing? So, at the end, he decided that he will not participate in the Mahabharata war. According to him, the war should not have happened. The war should have been stopped. And Krishna should have stopped the war. But when the war was not stopped and there was no other way to stop the war, then Balram said that I will not participate in this war. And he just sat from a distance and watched the war. That is why Balram never participates in the war. When in the end, after the whole war was over, there was a battle going on between Bheem and Duryodhana. That is when Balram first appeared in the battlefield. And he said that Duryodhana is my favorite disciple. And it is impossible to defeat Duryodhana in the battle of Gada. Bheem was so good, but he was not better than Duryodhana in the battle of Gada. If you remember that little story, how mother Gandhari took off her bandage and made a shield on Duryodhana's body. And there was only a small place left where she had tied the bandage on Krishna's order. So when the war was going on, it was not allowed to hit under the waist, to hit Gada in the war. But Krishna indicated that Bheem, you hit below. And when Bheem started hitting below, then Duryodhana lost. Balram was standing there. He was very angry. He even cursed Bheem on this. So Balram was not a very important part of the war. But because of Balram, Duryodhana got Gada Vidya. Maybe Duryodhana got the ego that he thought he could defeat the Pandavas. My personal opinion is that if Balram was in the war, then the chances of winning the side would have increased a lot. Bheem's son was Ghatotkach. We remember that when Ghatotkach used to come in the war with a big body, more than half of the army used to die under his feet. And Ghatotkach's son was Barbarik, whom we know today as Khatushyam. Barbarik was Bheem's grandson. And it is said that Barbarik was the first among all the warriors. The powers that he had, no other warrior had. Very few people know what those powers were. So let me tell you this first. He had done a lot of hard work by worshipping and meditating on Lord Shiva. He had found some weapons. It is said that no one has ever had a bigger weapon than that. It is also said that the side from which Barbarik will fight, that side is definitely destined to win. It can never lose. To avoid taking the wrong advantage of this, Lord Shiva had given him a weapon with a condition. It was said that you can only fight from the side which is losing. The side which is an underdog. You can only fight from that side. You can never fight from the other side. Shri Krishna. Shri Krishna again. Once he went to Barbarik. A few days before the war, he went to Barbarik. And he said, you tell me, from which side are you going to fight? From your grandfather's side or from the Kauravas' side? Barbarik said, I have no say in this. Lord Shiva has given me this weapon with the condition that I can only fight from the side which is losing. First Krishna said, tell me, what is that weapon? So Barbarik drew three arrows. Lord Shiva had given Barbarik three arrows and an arrow. From Barbarik, Krishna said, give me a demonstration of your weapon. Show me how this weapon works. Barbarik said, tell me what to do? Krishna said, can you see this tree? Cut all the green leaves of this tree. Barbarik took out three arrows. From the first arrow, he marked all the green leaves. From the second arrow, he unmarked all the green leaves in that tree. From the third arrow, when he fired that arrow, all the green leaves were pierced. To know the real glory of that weapon, Krishna hid one of the leaves under his shoes. He closed it under his feet. When he pierced all the leaves and hovered over Krishna's feet, Barbarik said, Hey Madhav, remove your feet. There is definitely a leaf under your feet. Barbarik wanted to finish the whole war in five minutes. He marked the whole army, unmarked the remaining army, and as soon as he fired the third arrow, everything was over. Krishna knew this and he confused Barbarik with his words. He said, if you start fighting from the side of the loser, then definitely you will start winning that side. Then the other side will start losing. Then you will have to fight from that side. And as soon as you go there, they will start winning. Then you will have to fight from this side. So will you keep playing like this all the time? Barbarik was a little confused as to what to do. So Krishna trapped him in his words and asked for his head as a reward. Barbarik was Bheem's grandson, he could not go back on his words. There Barbarik cut his head and presented it to Krishna. He asked Krishna for one last thing. Barbarik said, Lord, I want to see the war. So please arrange something so that I can see the war with my own eyes. Then on top of a very big mountain, Krishna put his head on a spear so that he could see the whole war. Another beautiful thing is that before the whole war was over, Krishna took the Pandavs to Barbarik saying that he's the greatest warrior. if he would fight you wouldn't have won so you must take his blessings When the Pandavs reached Barbarik, all but Yudhishthir felt arrogance they asked Barbarik, since you have watched the entire war tell us without whom could we have not won this war? Bheem asked "who killed all the armies?", Arjun asked "who is the greatest warrior?", all of them questioned Barbarik Barbarik smiled and said that the only person without whom the war could never have been won was Shri Krishna without him you would have never won the war Krishna was impressed by Barbarik's answer and blessed him saying for the ages to come whenever a failed man calls on your name, they will be victorious which is why to this date khatushyam mandir is revered.
