Son of a charioteer, you are not even worthy of dying at the hands of Arjun. These words of Pandav Rajkumar Bheem, had pierced that warrior like an arrow. And the fire of raging hatred against Pandavas, had increased even more in his mind. All his life, he tried to prove himself to be a skilled warrior. Even with this intention, he challenged Arjun to a war. But by rejecting his challenge, and making fun of him, the Pandavas destroyed his honour. And to avenge his humiliation, he rejected all the paths of Dharma, and supported the unrighteous Kauravas till his last breath. For many, he is a brave warrior, an excellent archer, and the most dangerous warrior of Mahabharata. So many see him as a cruel and a deceptive person. With the Kavach Kundal, he was born, the Karna, who was possessed by the power of the Sun. Sometimes he was called a lower caste, and sometimes the son of the Sun. But what is the truth? The son of the Sun, Karna. The son of the Sun, Karna, was given to the mother of the Pandavas, Kunti, in her pregnancy, and her mother gave birth to him. And he was brought up in the house of Adhirath Nandan and Radha, a lower caste family. After which, the son of the Sun, Karna, became the son of the lower caste, Karna. And when this Karna, met the Pandavas like the son of the lower caste the Pandavas started making fun of Karna's position. Duryodhana was the only one who stood with Karna, and that's why Duryodhana became Karna's best friend. A friend for whom Karna could go to any extent. But this is not entirely true. If there is friendship, it is like Karna and Duryodhana. The son of lower castes, Karna, who grew up among the princes in Hastinapur, always had to fight to make his place in society. Whenever he tried to prove his skill, he was humiliated by reminding him of his caste. But then his friend Duryodhana came into his life. Duryodhana always stood with Karna against everyone. Duryodhana was even the reason why after winning Angadesh, Karna became the king of Anga from the son of the lower caste. Duryodhana's friendship gave Karna the respect in society that he had wanted since childhood. And that's why even today, whenever there is talk of Mahabharata, examples of friendship between Karna and Duryodhana are given. But did you know that once Karna had left his friend injured in the battlefield and ran away? According to Mahabharata, when the Pandavas were living in the forest after losing everything, one day Duryodhana sent some people from the Kuru army to the forest. He wanted to know the condition of the Pandavas and to I control these. But Gandharvas ruled that forest and they refused to let the Kuru army enter. Hearing this, Duryodhana went mad with anger and himself took Karna and his brothers and reached there. He attacked the Gandharvas after which a fierce battle ensued. One by one, the Gandharvas killed millions of soldiers of the Kuru army. But then they saw that King Karna was still fighting Duryodhana with all his might. Then they made a plan and surrounded Karna from all sides and rained arrows on him. Now Karna was not able to face such a fierce attack. He understood that if this continues, then perhaps the Gandharvas will surround him here. And he left Duryodhana behind and ran away on a chariot. Karna always said that Duryodhana's friendship was the most important for him and for this friendship, he was supporting the Kauravas. But then Karna left his friend to the hands of the enemy without thinking twice. So was Karna ever Duryodhana's true friend? Or was he selfish in supporting the Kauravas? Your sons have no danger from me except for Arjun because in the battlefield either I will survive or Arjun. According to the Mahabharata, when Kunti met Karna, she asked him not to fight against his own brothers. But for Arjun, his hatred had increased so much that he was ready to kill him or even die. According to the Adi Parva of Mahabharata, when Karna was called the son of lower caste and stopped from taking part in Draupadi's marriage, his self-esteem was severely damaged. But when he saw that Arjun came in the form of a Brahmin and won the bet of marriage and got married to Draupadi, Karna's grief turned into jealousy. Karna was thinking that if he was not stopped from taking part in the marriage, he would definitely defeat Arjun because he always considered himself a better warrior than Arjun. But soon, this illusion of Karna also broke. According to the Gandharva Parva of the Mahabharata, when Karna left Duryodhana and ran away from the hands of the Gandharvas, then Arjun and Bheem fought with him and saved Duryodhana's life. The Gandharvas who had defeated the entire Kuru army with Karna, only Arjun and Bheem defeated them. After this incident, Karna's jealousy for Arjun increased even more and he decided that he would defeat the Pandavas and kill Arjun. Whenever there is a talk of Karna's struggle, there is always a story of Guru Dronacharya. Guru Dronacharya used to teach war strategy and archery to the Pandavas and Kauravas in Hastinapur. But when Karna wanted to learn from them, he refused to teach because he was from a lower caste. But the truth is much beyond this. According to the Gandharva Parva of the Mahabharata, Karna also learned archery from Guru Dronacharya along with the Kauravas and Pandavas. And this is how the enmity between Karna and the Pandavas also started. Karna often used to meet Duryodhana to humiliate the Pandavas and to make fun of them. But then he saw that Guru Dronacharya was getting very impressed with Arjun's archery. This made him jealous of Arjun. He wanted him to be the best in all weapons and kill Arjun to prove himself as the best warrior. According to the Shanti Parva of Mahabharata, Karna took this wish and went to his Guru Dronacharya and he said, Guruji, I want to defeat Arjun in the war. So I request you to give me the most powerful weapon, the Brahmastra. Hearing this, Dronacharya was shocked. He was definitely attached to Arjun but he also knew that Karna wanted to use this divine weapon to humiliate Arjun and to make fun of the Pandavas. That's why Dronacharya avoided him and said, Son, only a Brahmachari Brahmin or an ascetic Kshatriya can know the Brahmastra. No one else can learn it. But Karna had decided that he will definitely learn the Brahmastra and his stubbornness forced him to take this path. Karna's desire to learn the Brahmastra took him to Parshuram ji. But here, once again he took the support of Adharma and this was the biggest mistake of his life which later became the reason for his death. According to the Shanti Parva of Mahabharata, after meeting Mr. Parshuram, Karna said to him, I am a Brahmin and I want to learn from you. Parshuram Ji accepted him but soon the day came when Parshuram Ji came to know the truth about Karna. Actually, once, because of a long fast, Parshuram Ji was resting with his head on his lap. Then a terrible insect bit Karna's leg and he started itching. Karna tolerated the pain so that his Guru's sleep wouldn't be disturbed. But in a short time, Parshuram Ji woke up and saw the wound on his leg. After understanding the whole situation, he said, A Brahmin can't tolerate so much pain so easily. Only a Kshatriya can do this. Tell me the truth, who are you? Then Karna told him that he is neither a Brahmin nor a Kshatriya but a son of a lower caste. Hearing this, Parshuram Ji got very angry and he said, Lying and deceiving is never successful. I curse you that when your death is near, you will forget my knowledge of Brahmastra. And exactly the same happened on the land of Kurukshetra. When Karna and Arjun met, Karna forgot his knowledge of divine weapons and Arjun killed him. In the peaceful era of Mahabharata, Karna was known as the birthplace of struggle. A warrior who had to face a tough struggle in his whole life. As soon as he was born, he separated from his mother. The shield with which he was born, was snatched from him by deceit. His knowledge acquired after hard penance and hard work failed due to a curse. Karna had to face many such obstacles in his life. But did this struggle of Karna or the injustice done to him have any effect on him? Was he really just unlucky or did his fate depend on his misdeeds?
